Do I Even Want to be a Maker Entrepreneur?
In my June Growing U Workshop, we explored the potential journey(s) of turning your product into a money maker with the help of the Entrepreneur’s Roadmap. Whether you want to stay small-scale, have dreams of going big, or have no idea if it’s worth your time, by understanding the big picture of having a maker business, you can start mapping your own path forward.
This workshop was the first in a monthly series led by Growing U to help you determine if you and your idea are ready to go into business, and then tackle the process step-by-step – together.
In June’s workshop, we took a 10,000 foot view with the Entrepreneur’s Roadmap – from conceptualization, analysis and strategic planning through implementation, management and growth. We talked about the realities of day-to-day life, how you might start building a business alongside other efforts, and any key worries or pain points that arise. Examples highlighted how makers bring their business to life differently, designing what works for them and their product.
Participants identified where they were in the journey (and if it’s one they want to take), where they might focus their attention, and started to imagine a reasonable timeline to work through the process.
